Harbor Waterfront Advisory Committee
The Harbor Water/Fronts Committee (HWAC) was created by Motion of the Town Board on August 5, 2014. The HWAC's Mission can be found in General Ordinance Chapter R. The HWAC meets the second Thursday each month at 8am at Town Hall and as needed. Terms are 2 years, the current member roster is as follows:
Town Dock #1 Changes August 1
Oriental has a free dinghy dock as well as two Town Docks that are free to use for up to 48 hours in any 30-day period. O
ne of those docks, Town Dock #1 adjacent to Hodges St and the bulkhead tie up next to the dock is changing free tie up limits. For the months of August and September,
Town Dock #1 and the bulkhead tie up will limited to a free two hour per day tie up.
This is to accommodate fisherman during Red Drum fishing season.
Town Dock #1 and the bulkhead will revert back to the 48-hour limit in October.
Town Dock #2 (70' two-sided dock with pump out) will remain a 48-hour tie up throughout the year.
Boaters are welcome to use the newly restored Sergeant House next to Town Dock #2 which acts as a self-service welcome center.
It is climate controlled, has free WiFi, a book exchange and is a great place to sit, relax and maybe catch up on emails, etc.
