Your thoughts on Animal Control (click for more)
Pamlico County is looking to solve the Animal Control issue (people, facility, calls) and is proposing that all incorporated areas forward $36/person (Oriental's share is $32,436) (unbudgeted) to hire additional personnel and work on a facility to house animals in the County.
Attached are call volume documents and the breakdown of cost from the County.
Regardless of participating or not, the County is required by Statute to provide service through the Health Dept for suspected rabies, dog bites, and dangerous animals, but no other- no feral cat trapping, no snake relocating, etc. (Things we were used to Berkeley responding to)
The Board would like to hear from the citizens what their thoughts are on participating (at cost) in a new Animal Control program- we would be required to adopt the County's Animal Control Policy and Procedures in order for them to operate in town limits.
Please forward your opinions to TM Diane Miller at Manager@townoforiental.com and she will compile for the Board to review.
