ORIENTAL IS A
RECYCLING COMMUNITY!

Oriental has one of the best recycling programs in the state.  The town provides each residence and small business with two large rollcarts for curbside pick-up of trash every Monday (green container) and recyclables on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Mondays of the month (blue container).

The program is designed to be simple and encourage our residents to participate as much as possible.  By recycling, we can save tax dollars and help the environment at the same time.  Placing items in the green trash cart costs the municipality $50.50 per ton to dispose of at the landfill.  Placing items in the blue recycling cart costs zero dollars for disposal.

In the last six years, we've saved almost $42,000.00 in disposal costs!

What can you do to help?

  1. Check out this listing of what goes where.
  2. Remove caps, rinse, and only dispose of proper items in the blue recycling cart.  The better the recycling material Oriental delivers for processing, the better the end product will be!
  3. Glass bottles should not be intentionally broken.
  4. Debris from contractors must be removed by contractors.
  5. Place rollcart wheels away from the curb, to assist in the quick and easy removal of your trash and recycling by our contractor.
